Leslie Stein Handler and Cheryl Stein Handler have collaborated on a second book. Their first book: "What Did You See Out Your Window Today?" was a children's counting book of poems in three languages: Spanish, English and Sign with whimsical drawings accompanying each poem. The new book: "Come on Home When the Street Lights Shine or the Cow Bell Clangs" is a nod to nostalgia to those of us who grew up in the 1960's. Just as the name implies, it is filled with stories and memories of playing outside all day long, watching Saturday morning cartoons, Archie comics, enjoying school assemblies and carnivals, testing your dancing skills at square dancing, cars without seatbelts, sliding down hot metal slides in the summer, experiencing the BIG SNOW of 1967, typewriters and more.

What Did You See Out Your Window Today? is a counting book of poems in three languages: English, Spanish and Sign Language. The author and her sister teamed up for this delightful dance through Nature. Each page has a poem about an animal, an insect or another part of the outdoors. Accompanying the poem is the Spanish translation and a sampling of signs for the reader to explore. This book can be enjoyed by children of all ages.
Through their book, What Did You See Out Your Window Today, Leslie and her sister Cheryl invite the reader to enjoy the view out their window, and appreciate every living creature. |
